PLETYSMOGRAPHY

Plethysmography is a non-invasive method of estimating volume changes in an extremity. Since other tissues maintain volume constant during the short period of the test, any differences noted relate to changes in blood volume.

This test may be recommended by your doctor if there is a suspicion that there is a blood clot in the legs. Symptoms are redness, heat, sweating and skin tightness. It is a different exam from the arteriogram, but less invasive and cheaper, which makes it suitable for the whole population.

Who should take this exam?

Anyone who thinks they have venous insufficiency problems in the lower limbs, preferably after talking to their general practitioner. In any case, it is always possible to come directly to the pharmacy to carry out the examination on the dedicated days.

How does it take place?

You don't need to undress, but simply uncover one leg and remain in a sitting or supine position. A cuff similar to a blood pressure cuff is placed and blood pressure is checked. The test generally lasts 20-30 minutes, during which time it is advisable to remain still and calm.

There is no risk of side effects and the result is obtained immediately after conducting the test.
